In an effort to “Shine a Light” on our military heroes this Veterans Day; Agway Energy Services sent all its active military and veteran customers a shipment of energy-saving LED light bulbs. It’s just a small way of showing our appreciation for the incredible sacrifice that all of our military and military families make each and every day.

This year more than ever we need to focus on the positive. That’s why this Veterans Day, Agway Energy Services is highlighting some of the amazing stories that go relatively unheard, specifically within the military community. This month, we are urging everyone to submit a story about a military hero that they know to help build awareness and “shine a light”.

To submit a story, simply visit our website and fill out a short form.

Why Switch To LED Light Bulbs?

Based on the average American household, about 5% of our annual electric bill is devoted to lighting alone. When you think about how much you spend on electricity each month, 5% over the course of a year can add up to a sizable amount of energy and money.

Before legislation passed in 2012, most households were filled with traditional incandescent light bulbs. The issue surrounding incandescent lighting is that 90% of the energy they use is emitted as heat, not light. So in actuality, while they produce light, almost all of your money is going towards heating the light bulb.

Switching from traditional incandescent lighting to more energy-efficient alternatives, while more of a financial investment upfront, will, in the long term, save you money and energy. Plus, since energy-efficient options can last up to 25 times longer than traditional incandescent light bulbs, you’ll produce less environmental waste over time as well.

LED light bulbs use about 80% less than traditional incandescent bulbs making them one of the most energy-efficient and cost-saving lighting options.
